Friday 10-12 Great Fishing

Pretty start to the day

The Maryland Boys

Man we had a nice day on the water with some good fishing to go along with it. I went down the beach to go look for a wahoo starting out this morning but didn't have much luck. After a few laps around the break I wandered on off towards the 100 and got a couple of tuna bites and caught a yellow fin. We circled around the area, saw a few birds had a couple more bites and caught another tuna. Then the dolphins hit us and we caught a sail all in one circle. We got set back out and had a few more bites and wound up with a few more tunas. Later in the day The black fin tunas hit us a little further up the beach and we caught 6 out of that. Just before coming home we caught a few dolphin and a couple wahoo  around a float. In the midst of it all today we also pulled off another sail and missed another. It's shaping up to be some great fall fishing. Thanks Catlin and crew for a great day. We sure hope to see you all again.

The ride to work this morning

Sail on the wire

Nice Sail Fish!
Today we had a make up charter. The goal was to catch some meat but that didn't work out to well for us. John caught a nice Wahoo first thing this morning. We fished around that spot for a bit with no bites and then we moved on offshore a ways looking for some grass or a float that may hold dolphin. We found some patches of grass and trolled them for 4 miles with only one bite which was a White Marlin that got away. I fished back up the beach and caught a sail fish up the line a few miles. We missed another sail a little while later and missed a Wahoo on the way back inshore. The weather was beautiful but the fishing was over all a little slow. A couple boats got lucky and found a school of dolphin around a float or patch of grass but they were few and far between. Thanks a bunch guys.

The Gang!
We had some old customers along with us today. I was hoping to catch them a box full of fish but the fish gods weren't smiling down on us today. We missed a sail fish on the first bite of the day and then had a Wahoo sky on a flat line and cut us off. We trolled on offshore from there and found a little scattered grass and worked around in it. I went by a small patch and got a bite. When I went back there were a few dolphin under it and we caught 7 and were glad to have them. I went by a board a little later and hooked a couple of which we caught one. I pulled back by the board and never saw another dolphin but we had a big bite as we were getting away from it that ended up being a Blue Marlin. He was about a 300 lb. fish and we had him on one of the smallest rods we had out. It took us an hour and 20 minutes to catch him but that's pretty good considering the tackle and the size of the fish. It was alot of chasing him around to catch him but we did it. It was a good day all in all. Thanks guys.

Monday Oct. 1st

David with his Dolphin

David with his Wahoo
Today we had David Austin, his father and a couple of friends aboard. They live out around Charlotte, N.C.. They wanted to catch a marlin today so that's what we set out looking for. We put our lines in and looked around a bit and then went on off to the deep. The conditions were not idea at all for what we wanted to do but we gave it a try for a few hours. We had a SE wind, scattered grass and it was raining cats and dogs. It was almost impossible to stay out of the grass because I just couldn't see it due to the rain. We did catch a dolphin and have a bite out of a sail that we didn't come tight on. I trolled up inshore the last hour looking for a bite and we caught a nice Wahoo. No billfish but at least they got some dinner. Thanks guys and hope to see you all again.
